Built on a peninsula Zadar is above all a traffic-free old fortress town full of charm and history. Zadar is a mixture of little alleyways, pretty churches and archaeological ruins and it is Dalmatia's hub for connecting to the Islands or for travelling on to Split. The white paving stones, polished by walkers, produce an almost surreal atmosphere which captivates its visitors.
