Numerous picturesque villages invite you on heritage excursions near your campsite in Ardèche. Balazuc, built like a belvedere atop a cliff overlooking the Ardèche, is among France's most beautiful villages. A stroll through its streets plunges you into the heart of the Middle Ages: as you wander, you can admire trilobed windows, broken arch doorways, vaulted passages, and cobblestone streets.

Labeaume unfolds its golden stone houses along the banks of the eponymous river. From the hanging gardens, arranged on terraces built during the 18th century to gain arable land, a panoramic view opens up to you. Paths promise you a journey back to a millennia-old past, discovering dolmens erected by the peoples who once lived here.

Another favorite, the village of Rochecombe, nestles against a rocky peak in a postcard-perfect setting. Its steep, narrow streets lead you to the old castle, from which a panoramic view opens onto the surroundings.

The 54-meter high mineral arch of Pont d'Arc has been patiently carved by the elements and has spanned the river for over a hundred thousand years. Spectacular, it symbolizes your entry into the Ardèche Gorges and will undoubtedly feature in your holiday photos.

The Ardèche territory has been inhabited since antiquity. In a cave located in the Vallon Pont d'Arc area, our distant ancestors left a thousand engravings and paintings for posterity. A faithful reproduction of the Chauvet Cave has been built to allow the general public to safely admire these moving testimonies of humanity.

You can also delve into the depths of the Earth. The Aven d'Orgnac can be discovered during a memorable guided tour. Young and old alike will admire numerous geological formations, monumental stalactites and stalagmites, colossal pillars, and exceptionally delicate rock lacework.

South of the gorges, the Saint-Marcel-d'Ardèche cave will transport you into an almost magical universe with its immense chambers and its gours waterfall, unique in Europe.

Have these emotions whetted your appetite? Ardèche is renowned for its gastronomy. Among the local specialties, we invite you to taste crique ardéchoise, a savory potato pancake; cousina, a chestnut soup; bombine, a dish made with potatoes, pork, garlic, onion, and bay leaf; or caillette, a small pâté made with pork, chard, and spinach. Ardèche chestnuts are enjoyed in savory preparations and also form part of many desserts like chestnut cake, chestnut cream, or candied chestnuts. Wine enthusiasts won't want to miss Néovinum, a space of over 1,500 m² dedicated to oenology.

Your camping stay in Ardèche can be an opportunity to multiply nature activities. The Monts d'Ardèche Regional Natural Park covers a large part of the west of the department and offers a playground for lovers of hiking, mountain biking, tree climbing, via ferrata, canyoning, and caving.

The Loire, France's longest river, originates at Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc. Beyond its symbolic significance, this natural site offers you an enchanting setting for a family walk.

The Monts d'Ardèche are watered by numerous rivers, which brighten the landscapes and invite you to explore. At the Ray Pic waterfalls, 60 meters long, the Bourges river gushes amidst the ancient lava flows of an extinct volcano. Through sheer tenacity, the waterfall has managed to carve its way between the volcanic flows.

Ardèche hosts one of France's largest animal parks: the Peaugres Safari. Embark with your family on an initial car circuit, then continue your journey on foot to meet animals from five continents: big cats, primates, elephants, antelopes, bison, hippos, multicolored birds... You observe them up close, from afar... But always in large natural spaces, their wild environment carefully reproduced.

Go explore a part of the department by taking a seat aboard the Ardèche Train. This small steam tourist train travels along the Doux Gorges railway line for a getaway at a different pace.
