Bookings forstays outside the school holidays also qualify for lower rates. For example, holidays in September, during the Indian summer, are at the ideal time: the climate is still pleasant and prices drop considerably. Bargain-hunters will be keeping a regular eye out for flash sales and special offers between March and September. If you find it difficult to plan your holidays in advance and are flexible about your destination or type of accommodation, last-minute offers can be an excellent answer to taking a break at a lower cost, with no preplanning.

Campsites in the south of France, particularly in Languedoc-Roussillon and on the Côte d'Azur, offer significant savings for early bookings. Switzerland, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands also offer mobile homes at very competitive prices during off-peak periods.

Flexibility on dates is your greatest asset: move your stay to the beginning or end of the week and save money. You should also be aware that 3-star and 4-star campsites are more affordable than 5-star campsites. You can also opt for a pitch as well as a Classic or Comfort mobile home. These types of accommodation are fully equipped, but much less expensive than the Premium or Ultimate ranges. Explore campsites away from the sandy beaches, several kilometres from the coast or in the countryside: their prices are often lower than those at the seaside. To maximise your chances of finding a last-minute holiday at a reduced price, be flexible about your destination and choose several geographical options. Be careful though, if costs fall at the last minute, many campsites may be fully booked. Be prepared to adapt and improvise. That's also what having an adventure is all about!
