Holland has several national parks , perfect for a countryside escape. The Veluwe National Park is a must with intermingled lush forests, wild dunes and immense moors. Cyclists and hikers will love exploring its unspoiled expansive landscapes.

The Dwingelderveld National Park, in the province of Drenthe, is home to the largest wet moorland in Western Europe.

For a slightly different ambience, head off to the De Biesbosch National Park with its network of wetlands where you can kayak or take a boat trip through its preserved nature. Photography fans will particularly love spotting the variety of migratory bird species that pass through this spectacular park.

Holland is a cyclist's paradise, with over 35,000 km of well-maintained cycle paths. Hire a bike at your campsite and set off to discover the colourful tulip fields in spring, the majestic windmills of Kinderdijk, or charming villages such as Giethoorn, nicknamed the "Venice of the North". It's an authentic and, above all, eco-friendly way to explore the country at your own pace.

For a real taste of Dutch culture, settle down in a restaurant to sample the typical dishes of the region you are visiting. Parents and kids alike will love the fresh fish, cheese, stamppot and poffertjes.

Traditional markets are a great way to treat yourself to local produce. The markets in Gouda (famous for its cheese), Delft and The Hague are perfect for sampling fresh herring (haring), caramelised stroopwafels or crispy kroketten. 

Lots of campsites organise outings to these markets or serve local cuisine in their on-site restaurants.

The Netherlands' beaches cover over 250 km of the North Sea coast. Holidaymakers will love the relaxed, family-friendly seaside resorts such as Scheveningen, Renesse and Zandvoort.

Water sports fans can get their thrills in Noordwijk, famous for steady winds perfect for kitesurfing and windsurfing. For a more poetic outing, a walk along the endless dunes on the island of Texel promises incredible views.

Traditional fishing villages such Volendam and Marken have preserved their authentic charm, with colourful houses and picturesque harbours. Admire the coastline from another perspective with boat trips from these peaceful ports.
