Saint-Jean-de-Monts, a little jewel on the Atlantic coast

A seaside resort since the 19th century, there are many on-site amenities to satisfy lovers of the ocean. The town is divided in two by a magnificent band of dunes to contain the advancing sand. This barrier of pines is one of the town’s most beautiful sights. The town is surrounded by marvellous beaches where you can kick back and relax.

The secrets of the town

The three-time “Flowered Town” of Saint-Jean-de-Monts will delight you with its colourful balconies and fragrant squares. Don’t forget to admire Saint-Jean-de-Monts pier, a poetic and romantic place that embodies all the charm of the town. Come and whisper sweet nothings here before exploring the many dunes surrounding the town. Keep going as far as the Breton Marsh, which covers 3500 hectares. It’s a haven of peace and a breath of fresh air.

Activities at Saint-Jean-de-Monts

Cycling, forest hikes, horseback rides, waterskiing, windsurfing... There’s so much to do in this magical town. But the local activity is fishing for wedge clams ("pignons")! Or “pigoune” fishing, as the locals say. Pick up a bucket and head to the shore at low tide. Wedge clams are little shellfish, buried a few inches underneath the sand, which taste good fried or in a salad.
